Reproduction of five mullet fish (Mugilidae) in Grand-Lahou Lagoon, Côte d’Ivoire: Size at first sexual maturity, reproduction period and sex ratio

This work provides information on Mugilidae fish reproduction in Grand-Lahou lagoon. From September 2009 to August 2011, for each specimen sampled, the total length cm, mass and eviscerated g, gonads cg, sex maturity stages were recorded. Parameters studied size at first sexual maturity, period ratio. The is reached between 16.1 cm 21.0 four of five species 41.6 Mugil cephalus females. Liza dumerili curema reproduce from November, falcipinnis July October, bananensis March June August. These lagoon, except cephalus. During breeding season, ratio favour females bananensis. In falcipinnis, sexes are rather balanced.
